Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate:
IL Borghetto was one of the most pleasant discoveries in my tastings of the wines of Chianti Classico. The estate is quickly establishing itself as one of Tuscany's hottest new properties. British oenologist Tim Manning.... makes some of the most exceptionally balanced, harmonious wines in Tuscany in a style that favors a fairly rich expression of fruit. At their finest, the wines recall great Pinot in their weightless and effortless grace. Simply put, I can't recommend these wines highly enough.’

2006 IL Borghetto 'Clante' IGP 100% Sangiovese
Tim Manning's Clante is a rich, powerful wine, brooding with Tuscan flavours. Clante is an ancient Etruscan word meaning Chianti, and this exceptionally balanced Sangiovese is an impeccable wine of power, structure and character. Classy and elegant with vibrant dark cherries, mint, minerals and licorice flavours. The texture of the wine shows the IL Borghetto 'house style', with great intensity and lift.

This powerful and elegant wine is produced from a selection of some of the finest sangiovese from the estate, from one of the all-time great vintages. The bouquet shows black fruits, leather and tobacco. The palate is rich and dense with an elegant mouth-feel comparable to Pinot Noir.
