Jovis Wines is headed by winemaker Justin Bubb, who is passionate about bringing customers wines that reflect the essence of their variety and environment. After graduating from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Oenology), Justin spent time making wines in Australia’s premier wine-growing regions, including the Hunter, Barossa and Yarra Valleys.
Having learnt his craft in Australia, Justin was keen to get out of his own backyard and see what the world had to offer, so he headed to Italy to pursue his passion for Italian wines.
In 2002, Justin worked in the premier wine town of Barolo, Piemonte, making the famous Barolo and Barbera wines. Next, Justin moved to Italy’s other famous wine region: Chianti, Tuscany. From 2003 to 2007, he was the winemaker for Castello di Gabbiano, where he worked on taming the beast known as Sangiovese! Justin has now ventured out to make Italian wines under his own label, BABO. He also continues his link with Castello di Gabbiano as consultant winemaker.
